These articles are exactly what I want to do with my major! I love that social media and all this technology is evolving, but I love that it can be used to combat depression, to connect to others, to be helpful! Depending on how you use facebook will change everything. When people tell me that they don't use facebook at all, I am a little shook. I keep up with my friends and family that are across the world, I joined groups that give uplifting comments, and I use it to reach out. These things aren't limited to facebook, but it sure makes it easier.
Also, social media isn't bad. It is funny how some people can think that we are too invested in our phones and not in real life people (which can be a valid point), but if you use it in moderation, it becomes even better! I run the social media account (Instagram and facebook) for the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth and that is to reach out and try to let everyone know what the meaning of their order is. I follow the Pope, lots of other priests, and religious orders on twitter, Instagram, and facebook. They all use this tool to inspire your day! Social media is far from bad, but I did like that the article mentioned that it can be a source of complaining, which "will make you feel better". I am curious, it might make you feel better for a short time (like the cocaine), but soon you will need more to complain about. As oppose to when you have those friends who have "healthy moods", I am willing to bet talking with them or interacting on social media will bring so much more joy.
I have see how good friends have helped me change my attitude and that even my worst days can be turned around when one good friends talks to me.
