Desensitized to Violence?

I think that sex and violence has been prominent since, well forever. However, in the past 100 years or so it has become increasingly more accessible in the form of various media to parents and even children for that matter. I don't think that we should shield kids to these things, since they are things that happen on a daily basis. There are things that kids will grow up asking about and if they have not seen such things or even been informed then they will be ignorant to the matter.

When it comes to the claim of the MPAA also being desensitized and becoming lenient I would take that with a grain of salt as well. Like they said in the article, they shifted their ratings due to what the parents had seen and experienced, not the children. I would however, suggest that the MPAA be required to watch the entire film instead of just clips which was a flaw that was outlined in the article.

I don't believe that there is an "appropriate age" for kids to start viewing sex as it is something that comes natural and is a common human behavior. Violence on the other hand should be extended into the teen years for obvious reasons.

So in conclusion, I do believe that people have become desensitized to sex and violence throughout several forms of media. Do i think its a bad thing? Not really
