Gender Perceptions: Bossy or Brilliant?

In the chart that is displayed on Miller’s article, it shows an unfortunate difference between the way students viewed their male and female professors. I can relate to this article because I do find that women have it tougher in any working environment scenario. Through my personal experience in the corporate world environment, we did a research for our sales department and found that people were more willing to buy from men than women. Even trying to go up in ranking in the company was difficult for women. Female leadership were viewed as “bitches” or “hard-assess.” While as male leadership was viewed as “fun” and “cool” to work with. I wouldn’t consider myself a hardcore feminist or even a feminist at all, but I do feel that it is probably because of male dominance that makes it tougher for females. In personal opinion I am sure that men do work hard however I feel that women sometimes must work ten times harder in order to show their skills and qualifications. Yet they must also be careful as to not seem overly assertive. Women who are able to balance their professional role while also keeping their image in tact can then be considered as what Miller says about male professors, “brilliant, awesome and knowledgable.”
