It seems today, any hot button issue is brought on by media is presented, discussed, and finished within two weeks. Culture of today just finds the event decides what it feels and moves on. I believe that the impatience we foster through our browsing habits is also leaking into our habits for understanding.
What topic lands in our lap we give it our immediate one-to-two cents and move on. If you stick around and contemplate then you are thought to be "overthinking" or "hung up" on something, all of a sudden, not that important.
To give example, when was the last time someone talked about Pepsi's ad campaign showing how they could lull a riot with their product. People were up in arms of how ridiculous and trivial they made current events, just to sell their product. People made memes, they talked about it on the news, but within two weeks or so it died out. Great agenda for marketing though, ever talks about you and purchases for the topic.
Like I said we now, more than ever, shorten and diminish our understanding for current topics just to stay current.
