9/11

            The tragic events of September 11th have permanently changed the lives of many Americans as well as people living in third world countries who had to suffer in result of repercussions of war. The media had a large impact on the reactions of this tragic attack. Since this happened in 2001, the news did not spread through tons of cell phone videos via snapchat, instagram, twitter, etc - because these platforms did not exist at this time. However, many television news sources re-used the same exact traumatizing videos of the planes crashing into the World Trade Centers. I believe the media had a large portrayal on the increase of racism and Islamophobia in the United States as well as other countries. The consistent headlines of 'Muslim extremism' triggers many audiences to believe that all Muslims are terrorists/or have terrorist capability.
          I also believe that 9/11 has desensitized the western world to ignore the unnecessary ongoing wars that we have going on today, due to the attacks which occurred 18 years ago. The media covers a lot regarding the 9/11 attacks, however there is a significant lack of coverage in terms of how America has destroyed many third world countries in response to this.
