9/11
9/11 was one of the scariest events America had to face. I remember sitting in my kindergarten class witnessing the towers falling and wondering what the heck was going on. All the teachers were running around in terror about what to do. The school was put into lockdown and everyone had their hands over their head. After that day, Middle Eastern people were viewed as a threat to our society. Even today people still see them as a threat. If it is something like the Boston Marathon Bombing we were all in such a panic because it was a middle eastern person. When a similar event happens, but it's a white man, like the recent Vegas Strip Shooting, it is not an act of terror. In fact, the man probably just has a mental disorder or he snapped. If a middle eastern person committed the act instead it would have been called an act of terrorism. The way media has portrayed middle eastern people has turned us against them for the worse. The effects of media is a powerful thing and has molded our thoughts and ideas of middle easterns as a threat.
