The New Social Norm
It’s so funny because I knew exactly what
the article would be about just by reading the title! This I s something I have
been hearing and witnessing for a while now. Millennials would rather make less
money, have less responsibilities, deal with less stress, and be able to have
fun with their lives, than to be stuck at an office making $300,000 a year at a
stressful job that they hate going to everyday. I have seen more and more tiny
home/van home millennials popping up more and more that it even has me rethinking
my future living situation. Millennals want the option for a carefree
lifestyle; they want their cake and they want to eat it too! I’m not surprised
that this “trend” is catching on.
The article hit the nail on the head many
times; impatience is not a new thing! We are in a generation where time is
money, a lot of money, we know what we are worth and we do not want to waste
money being held on hold. Companies see the rise for the need of instant
gratification and feed that “drug” by offering same day delivery and incentives
for buying now. I myself have always been an instant gratification kind of
person. I will only hold on the line if it is necessary, and if I am in a long
line at Kroger I HAVE to whisper “ patience” in my head as fast as I can to
prevent a verbal breakdown. I know it sounds crazy but it works.
