Everyone always wants to be the one who “isn’t” affected or
followers the crowd. Regardless of color or race, we all as humans try to be
unique and different and follow our own path. However, as great as we think we
are, we aren’t. The articles conducted an experiment that shows us just this.
It seems to be the people that try the hardest to not be affected, are the ones
that are the most affected. I would relate that to the fact that one must push
that opinion/point of view on themselves so hard, it eventually becomes too
much and you just let it go. Also, people tend to be easily convinced when
distracted, not paying attention, or simply bored because they don’t have to
out that extra work to process all the information and make a choice. These
articles (should) make us want to take a deeper look into ourselves. It is human
nature to want to see ourselves as good people and blame and go against people
that disagree with us. No one likes being told their wrong and as great it feels to respond this way, it is a selfish and rude thing to do. I also have a teacher (Nathan Lindsey) who
taught our class, “if you can’t argue your opponent’s side, you’re not entitled
to your opinion”. Having that mind set would save us a lot of arguments and
even make us more conscience of the decisions we make and why. Overall, it is
human nature to think we are better than others and to be influenced by the
third person effect.
