Power of clothes

In the first two readings about clothing ability to changing our performances is very interesting. To imaging that something as simple as a doctor's lab coat can change how much more accurate we can be with our work. When wearing a painter's coat, the participants see less value in it and perform much differently. Clothes really can change how we act because of the what we associate them with. f we are wearing something pretty lax that tends to be our demeanor. If we are dressed nicely then we are a lot more engaged.

I really see a connection when I was in marching band. The uniforms we wore had something special about them. When I put those on everything really changed. I was more focused and I acted much more professionally. When we were at competitions I felt that my performances on the field were top notch and were a lot better than when I was practicing. The meaning behind the uniform really changed my my overall mood about things. When the uniforms were on it was time to get busy and when they came off everything was much more relaxed. When now when I dress more lazily I feel a little less put together and I'm just trying to get through the day.  When I'm dressed a lot nicer I feel that I can take on the day a lot easier.

  1. Hi James -- thanks for the post, but this is just a friendly reminder that reading responses are due at noon the day before class.
